Tencent Games has announced a significant restructuring of its TiMi (Tianmei) Studio Group, consolidating more than ten studios into four major R&D sub-studios namely J1, L1, J3, and T1. Additionally, two specialized studios, Z1 for innovation incubation and G1 for global development, were introduced.
Newly formed studios and leadership
On January 10th, 2025, ITHome reported the new streamlined structure which seems to reduce reporting levels and management responsibilities, enabling producers to focus more on product research and development.
Tianmei J1 Studio
Merged from J1, J5, J6, and F1 studios, this group is led by Ji Zefeng, who previously developed Speed Drifters (QQ Speed) and Honor of Kings. Ji will also oversee the G1 studio to expand Tianmei’s international footprint.
Tianmei L1 Studio
Formed by merging L1 and L2 studios, this division is headed by Li Min, the producer of Honor of Kings and other King IP projects, including Honor of Kings: World.
Tianmei J3 Studio
Created by integrating Y1, Y2, and Y3 studios, this studio is managed by Yao Yuan, known for his work on shooting games like CrossFire, Call of Duty Mobile, and Delta Force.
Tianmei T1 Studio
A result of merging T1 and T2 studios, this group is led by Shan Hui, who spearheaded projects such as Dream Star and King of Chaos.
According to their sources, the heads of the four main sub-studios will handle team management and collaborate with core producers to guide the studio’s development direction. Meanwhile, Producers will focus more on product research and development.
