  • Canadian investors plan to buy Ludia from Jam City, pending regulatory approval.
  • Jam City says the sale will not impact its core business of casual and puzzle games.

A group of Canadian institutional investors has agreed in principle to acquire Ludia, the Montreal-based mobile game developer, from Jam City for an undisclosed amount. The transaction is currently under review by the Canadian Competition Bureau.

Known for games such as Jurassic Park Builder, Jurassic World: The Game, Jurassic World Alive, and Ninja Turtles: Legends, Ludia has built a strong reputation for developing licensed mobile games based on well-known franchises.

As part of the deal, the consortium will take ownership of Ludia’s game portfolio. Ludia was previously acquired by Jam City in 2021 for $165 million from Fremantle. The latter had acquired a majority stake in Ludia in October 2010.

As shared by a spokesperson to PocketGamer.biz, the sale will not greatly affect Jam City’s business since its biggest games are casual and puzzle-style mobile titles. If approved, Jam City will ensure a smooth transition so Ludia can continue to succeed.

As the deal progresses, more details may emerge regarding the future direction of Ludia under its new ownership. The new owners may bring fresh ideas while keeping the studio’s successful games running.
