South Korean video game developers KRAFTON and Ironmace have agreed to end their licensing contract for Dark and Darker, which could result in a name change for Dark and Darker Mobile.
As reported by MTN, the game, developed by KRAFTON’s Bluehole Studio, had been using the Dark and Darker IP since August 2023, but with the contract now terminated, KRAFTON may need to rebrand before the full launch.

Dark and Darker Mobile went through multiple closed beta tests before beginning a soft launch in Canada and the USA earlier this month. It was set for release in the same regions on February 5, 2025, with a full rollout planned for the first half of the year. However, the recent contract termination adds uncertainty to its timeline.
Rebranding at this stage can be a challenge, especially for a game that closely resembles its PC counterpart. KRAFTON will need to choose a new name that keeps the game recognizable while also complying with licensing requirements. This process might also cause delays in its release schedule.
As of now, neither party has made an official statement. Whether the game will be renamed or if there will be any changes to its release plans is also unclear. More details are expected in the coming weeks.
