Former Electronic Arts veterans Joseph Donoghue, Nikhil Kurian, and Benjamin Dawe started a new game development studio, ‘The Three Thousands’ in Melbourne. The trio, who previously held leadership roles at EA, brings a wealth of experience from developing and managing iconic franchises like Need for Speed and Real Racing.
Joseph Donoghue, Chief Executive Officer of The Three Thousands, formerly served as the general manager of EA Australia’s studio. Nikhil Kurian, the new studio’s Chief Product Officer, was the Racing general manager at EA Melbourne, while Chief Creative Officer Benjamin Dawe led creative efforts as the studio creative director at EA Melbourne. Together, they aim to leverage their extensive expertise to push the boundaries of interactive entertainment.
The Three Thousands has ambitious plans to go beyond traditional gaming, with a vision to create a digital ecosystem that connects racing enthusiasts and gamers through immersive experiences.
While specific details on upcoming projects remain under wraps, one title is already scheduled for release in 2025, with more partnerships and products to be revealed in the near future.
While it is not confirmed if the studio will focus on mobile games in particular, looking at the background of the founders, it is likely to be a mobile studio. EA Melbourne is generally known as Firemonkeys Studio which has focused on Mobile Game development since 2001.
With this new venture, Donoghue, Kurian, and Dawe hope to revolutionize how gaming and racing experiences intersect, providing innovative content to a global audience.
