Mobile game developer Ludia is stepping into a new chapter as an independent company, following the split from Jam City earlier this February.
CEO Jimmy Gendron took to LinkedIn to share that the Montreal-based studio has received funding from a number of Canadian investors, such as Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Investissement Québec, BDC Capital Growth Equity Partners, Export Development Canada (EDC), and Groupe W.
The studio expressed deep gratitude to Jam City, acknowledging their partnership over the past few years while emphasizing that they remain friends and collaborators.
Founded in 2007 by Alex T., Ludia has established a solid reputation for creating licensed mobile titles, including Jurassic Park Builder, Jurassic World: The Game, Jurassic World Alive, and Ninja Turtles: Legends.
Though the financial figures are not disclosed, PocketGamer.biz informs that Investissement Québec has confirmed an $18 million investment to assist in the transition.
“With a strong team, creative ambition, and solid backing, Ludia is ready to embrace new opportunities, grow, and continue delivering great gaming experiences for players everywhere.”, CEO Gendron commented on the new journey.
Now operating independently, Ludia has big plans ahead, focusing on acquisitions and team expansion. The studio currently has 130 employees, a shift from its peak of nearly 400 during its time with Jam City.
