Mobile Games Developer and Publisher Miniclip has expanded its hand in the hybrid casual genre, following its acquisition of German game studio Lessmore.
The deal, finalized at the end of 2024, was made for an undisclosed amount. As confirmed by mobilegamer.biz, Miniclip CEO Saad Choudri expressed excitement over the acquisition, praising Lessmore’s ability to rapidly prototype “innovative game concepts and release hit casual titles”.
“The team have done a fantastic job scaling Eatventures and We Are Warriors, titles that increase Miniclip’s presence further into new categories. We look forward to working with the team on expanding their portfolio and supporting them in their growth aspirations,” he told the folks at mobilegamer.biz.
Lessmore co-founder Jeremy Ries shared his enthusiasm, stating that joining Miniclip marks an exciting new chapter. He further added that this “will allow us to leverage Miniclip’s extensive expertise and reach to continue to scale our games and provide ever more engaging and fun experiences to our players.”
Miniclip has been a major player in casual and strategy gaming for years, with hits like Mini Football, Golf Strike, and 8 Ball Pool. Meanwhile, Lessmore has made its mark with successful titles such as Pocket Chess, Eatventure, and We Are Warriors.
This acquisition is part of Miniclip’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its presence in the casual gaming space. In November last year, Miniclip acquired casual and puzzle game developer Easybrain from Embracer Group in a deal worth $1.2 billion.
