Pocketpair has announced the launch of its publishing arm, marking a major milestone for the studio as it ventures into game publishing. The company’s first partnership is with Surgent Studios, which is developing an untitled horror game slated for release in late 2025.
Notably, the upcoming title will not be set in the Tales of Kenzera universe, a signature world created by Surgent Studios. However, Surgent confirmed that discussions are ongoing with potential collaborators for future projects based on Tales of Kenzera.
“Both Surgent and Pocketpair are well-versed in taking risks,” said Abubakar Salim, CEO of Surgent Studios. “We’ve noticed a trend in the entertainment industry, and Pocketpair has given us the opportunity to explore it through this horror game. While we remain committed to Tales of Kenzera, this standalone project represents a significant mile marker for us—a way to reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re headed.”
John Buckley, Head of Pocketpair Publishing, highlighted the challenges faced by developers in securing funding and visibility for their projects. “As the games industry continues to grow, many games struggle to get funded and greenlit,” Buckley said. “Pocketpair Publishing’s mission is to empower passionate creators and help them bring fun, innovative experiences to players worldwide.”
