Rockstar Games has officially acquired Video Games Deluxe, the Australian studio known for its work on L.A. Noire and its VR adaptation. The studio will now be called Rockstar Australia.
Marking a new chapter in their long-standing partnership, Video Games Deluxe has contributed to various Rockstar projects. This includes the 2017 L.A. Noire re-releases and recent upgrades to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which saw releases for Android and iOS via Netflix Games.
In the official statement released by the studio on Monday, 3rd March 2025, Rockstar Games’ Head of Publishing, Jennifer Kolbe, expressed excitement about the acquisition, noting the team’s strong history of collaboration.

The studio’s founder, Brendan McNamara, thought of the decade-old partnership with Rockstar Games as “an honor” and added: “We are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible.”
Rockstar Games has a long history with the team at Video Games Deluxe, dating back to founder Brendan McNamara’s earlier studio, Team Bondi. Their collaboration began with the development of L.A. Noire, a critically acclaimed detective thriller that was released in 2011.
While no specific projects have been announced yet, fans can expect Rockstar Australia to contribute to future Rockstar titles.
