Known for Beatstar, Transformers: Earth Wars, and Chrome Valley Customs, London-based mobile developer and publisher Space Ape Games has shut down.

As reported by folks at MobileGamer.biz, the company reportedly has integrated around 70 of its employees into Supercell London. Despite efforts to minimize job losses, around 30 employees were let go, though some of the staff declined offers from Supercell and other companies involved.

The remaining team members will continue working on Chrome Valley Customs, Fastlane, and Transformers: Earth Wars under soon-to-be new ownership with Offroad Games.

The fellow startup, led by former Space Ape general manager Geoffrey Gilles, is taking over Chrome Valley Customs and Fastlane along with a small team of ex-Space Ape staff.

This marks the final chapter for 2012-born Space Ape, a studio Supercell first invested in back in 2017 before announcing its acquisition in November 2024 which was set to be completed by Spring 2025.

Supercell told MobileGamer.biz: “We’ve been working hard to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible for both Space Apes and Supercellians. As part of this, we’ve worked with each individual at Space Ape to explore their options, including interviewing for available roles at Supercell.”

Meanwhile, Yodo1, which previously managed Transformers: Earth Wars in China, will now publish the game globally. 10 staff working on the title will also join the team.
