Supercell, the mobile gaming giant known for its hit titles like Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars etc, is expanding its global footprint as the company has appointed Lasse Seppänen as the general manager of the London studio.
As reported by PocketGamer.biz, Seppänen will be responsible for defining the studio’s overarching vision and collaborating closely with the team in London to bring this vision to life, ensuring the studio’s work aligns with Supercell’s commitment to creating innovative and engaging mobile games.
Seppänen has been with Supercell since 2019 and working in the company’s headquarters Helsinki, where he has contributed significantly to the development of some of the company’s most popular games.
His experience includes serving as the game lead for Everdale, Hay Day, and Boom Beach. He also worked on the very recent games such as Moco and multiple unannounced titles that Supercell is currently working on.
Before his tenure at Supercell, Seppänen was the founder of PlayRaven, a game studio that was acquired by Rovio in 2018.
In addition, he held leadership roles at both Remedy Entertainment as COO and at Digital Chocolate as head of studio, gaining a wealth of experience in game production, team management, and business strategy throughout his career.
Supercell’s Focus on Building its London Studio is Very Natural
Supercell putting focus on building its London studio is not surprising. As outlined by CEO’s annual blog post, the company is considering its team growth slowly. Recently, Supercell absorbed 70 employees from London-based Space Ape Games, and most of them have been appointed in the London studio.
Supercell also recently appointed Johnathan Rowlands as the General Manager of its latest game, Squad Busters, who joined the team from Space Ape Games.
Supercell is working on multiple new titles, and it is very natural that they’ll require more manpower and leadership to maintain its ever-increasing live service portfolio.
Supercell is getting close to the public beta announcement for its monster-hunting title moco and very recently announced its latest title Boat Game, which is expected to enter alpha testing this week.
